It all comes down to height
According to this article, there are studies that clearly document how tall people make more money than short people.
Of course, it doesn't work out on a case by case basis, but on average, tall people earn 2% more for every extra inch.
At 6'1-3/4, I guess this means that I'm set to make above average pay, but statistically, I'll never be getting rich.
Thanks stupid study.

I don't know about this. Both of my brothers tower over me and I have serious doubts about their levels of intelligence...

Grace,
You are tall, silly. What are you, 5'8 or 5'9, at least?
You're a taller than average woman, and if you are in fact smart and making lots of money, you're proving the article right.

By the looks of things I doubt I'll ever be making lots of money if I stay in this business.

I'm not surprised tall people would have an earning advantage.
I know tall men are generally considered more attractive than short men (it probably holds for women as well, though to a lesser degree), and I've heard that attractive people earn more.
I guess the surprising aspect is that short men don't go out of their way to try and earn more to compensate. Why is that, Simon?

Grace, I'll bet you'll be making 100g's a year by the time you're 37 (as long as you cut enough throats).
From what I know, which isn't much, there are a lot of good jobs for women in the women's magazine business, and to be less sexist, in every business if you're willing to kick some ass.
You're probably smart enough and tall enough to get there if you stick with it.
It all depends on your work ethic and your ability to balance it with making babies.
If you want to work your way up the "respectable journalist, as seen by that guy who taught us how to do radio documentaries," I dont'know how much you'd make at the soon-to-be-defunct CBC London bureau.

Oh, and Don.
I like that tall people are better looking than short people. I wish it worked out that way for me.
Short and good-looking men are more likely to be called "cute."
