Five years ago today....

I was still sleeping in.

  • i was sleeping in, too! i didn't have class at ryerson until around noon. and then my clock radio was all "the pentagon is burning! the wtc is burning!" and i was like, "the fuck?"

so i woke up and watched the towers collapse with my grandma. then i went to the j-skool building, and the ry campus was a ghost town.

i was a lot younger in 2001. i was also full of hope. my hair looked stupid, though.

  • Wow. I completely forgot about the JP-Ryerson incident of 2001.... Thank God you didn't stay there. You might have been successful by now.

And if I remember correctly from the time I met you a year later, your hair looked quite, umm, uhh, butch-like?

... speaking of hope. Do you think we can blame 9/11 for the sad state of every 20-something we know right now? I'm always down with a new scapegoat.

P.S. PAYDAY!!!! I'm splurging on American-style Chocolate Drink... Yes, DRINK! NOT MILK! DRINK!

  • 9/11 is totally responsible for the mid-twenties malaise. anything the generation x-ers could have taught us about this shitty period of life was lost the moment that first plane hit the tower.

kidding. our lives would still be lame. i'd probably be working as a receptionist IN the towers.

  • The preecdeing post was brought to you by Douglas Copeland.

Douglas Copeland: because fun to write the same novel over and over and over...

PS: I see 9/11 as a way to cure malaise in 20-somethings.
WE'VE GOT WARS APLENTY GOING ON!!! As Earnest Hemmingway and all those other guys proved during the First World War, nothing gives your life meaning faster than watching your buddies being cut down by withering machine gun fire.

Plus you can lose your faith in shit ("His faith died in the fields of Flanders blah blah blah"), use it to get into law/business/politics, get a sexy uniform AND get to be totally gangsta and cap a few asses

    AWESOME!!
